**This course is exclusively for Central Rivers AEA consortium members (excluding those in Marshalltown and Waterloo).
Decoding is an essential skill, because it is the foundation in which all other reading is built upon. Come hear practical methods to help non-English readers accelerate their literacy in the target language. Secondary teachers deserve training in foundations of literacy that make sense for the secondary classroom. Learn strategies that are based on research and our consultant’s classroom experience.
This training will include:
- Hands-on techniques you can start using tomorrow
- An Overview of the foundations of literacy development
- Practical methods that build decoding skills while supporting students at grade level.
Elise White Diaz from Seidlitz Education will be facilitating the workshop.
Participants will each receive a copy of the book, ‘Boosting Achievement: Reaching Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Schooling’ by Carol Salva to have available and be utilized during the session. (Books will be van mailed to registered participants to the school location designated in their registration account.) If participants attended the Boosting Achievement training, March 27th, they will only receive one book.
The Title III consortium is covering the costs (presenter and book) for all registered consortium members.
