This course is designed to introduce participants to the principles and pillars of Applied Educational Neuroscience (AEN) and provides practical ideas, strategies, and mindsets to immediately implement in a classroom or school-wide setting. Participants will learn about nervous system states, strategies to develop awareness in students and staff, foundations of co-regulation, relational safety built through touch points, and the impact of utilizing the language of the nervous system in the school setting. This course builds on the theories and principles of the 10 Steps course, revisiting how social, emotional, and cognitive development are disrupted by adversity and trauma. We will then build on these understandings to gain insight on how resiliency and relational safety can be built in schools, impact nervous system states, and repair brain and nervous system states through interactions with safe, steady adults.
Participants must have completed the 10-Step Trauma-Informed Resilient School course.
