The Special Needs course is designed to further the paraeducator and substitute teacher''s understanding of the special nature of the special needs student.  Coursework will be delivered both face-to-face via Zoom and online coursework with assigned readings and written assignments.  All participants must have access to a working email address as well as a computer or tablet with Internet access to complete the assignments.

REQUIRED BOOK:  Participants are required to order the book “The Paraprofessional''s Handbook for Effective Support in Inclusive Classrooms” (2nd edition) by Julie Causton and Kate MacLeod.  It is available from Amazon as an ebook or print book, either option works.

This course can be taken for paraeducator or substitute teacher general learning, license renewal as well as Paraeducator Generalist Level 2 certification.

Reminder:  You must have been issued your Paraeducator Generalist Certificate by the Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE) prior to completing this course in order to use the credit from this course to renew your Paraeducator Generalist Certificate.
