This learning opportunity is a partnership between the Iowa Department of Education and Central Rivers AEA to support LEA administrators with the manifestation determination process. 

Learning Objectives:

• Recognize the impact IDEA has on students with IEPs regarding discipline.
• Explain what change of placement is, what a Manifestation Determination (MD) is, and when an MD must occur    
• Facilitate compliant and collaborative MD meetings that foster engagement with families and team members.
  
• Differentiate Special Circumstance and identify the available options when those events occur.
• Consider implementing preventative and effective practices for student discipline as LEA and AEA staff.
