Participants learn to use SOAR tools and materials to identify students'' math knowledge, pinpoint foundational areas for growth, and set aligned goals and activities. This professional learning also equips teachers to apply the research-based Effective Math Teaching Practices across all instruction levels while experiencing the 8 Effective Math Teaching Practices from our facilitators.
This professional learning will provide educators supporting students with unfinished learning in mathematics with a research based intervention program giving students access to grade-level Iowa Core Standards. Supporting Ongoing Achievement Responsively (SOAR) can be used flexibly within an MTSS system by teams of general education and special education teachers. Participants’ learning will center around making sense, posing purposeful questions, creating and using representations, using strategies, and providing explanations specific to understanding multiplication/division computation. Participants will also implement the diagnostic survey and aligned student activities.
